About this guide and how we check it
Hue Tourism is an independent, English-language guide to Hue for people who plan their own visit. This page explains who writes it, where the facts come from, what the dates mean, what we do not do, how advertising is handled and how to correct us.
Who writes it
The pages are written and checked by the Hue Tourism editors, named as the author on every page. The guide covers one city: the monuments, the river, the food, the festivals, the weather and the routes in and out of Hue, plus the day trips most visitors consider. It is published in English only.
The guide's job is to answer the planning questions that come before a booking: what a ticket costs and which combination makes sense, how long a site takes, which months to avoid, and how to get from one place to the next. It is meant to be read before you go and checked against the official source on the day.
Where the facts come from
We use sources in this order of preference:
- Official publications of Hue City and Vietnamese government bodies: the Hue City portal, the city tourism portal, the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre's ticket service, the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the railway operator and government news outlets.
- Foreign government travel advice, which states its own revision date.
- Operators of the infrastructure itself, such as airlines and airports.
- Independent guides, timetable sites, climate data services and the press, labelled as such in the source line, used where nothing official answers the question.
When an official page could not be read on the day we checked, we say so and use the next source rather than guessing. When two sources disagree, as they do on the Imperial City's daily opening hours, the page shows both. When we cannot confirm a figure, the page gives a range and asks you to confirm before you travel.
What the dates mean
Each page shows when it was published and when it was last reviewed. Each block containing a fact that can change, such as a ticket price, an opening time, a train fare or an event date, has a source line underneath with a date marked "last checked". That is the day an editor read the cited source and compared it with the page, not the day the site was rebuilt.
A "last checked" date describes our work, not the rule itself. Hue's council sets ticket prices by resolution, festival dates are announced through the year, and floods close sites at short notice. Open the official link and read it yourself before you travel.
What we do not do
- We do not sell tours, tickets, boat trips, transport or accommodation, and we take no bookings.
- We do not rank or rate hotels, restaurants, guides or tour companies, and we do not publish lists of them.
- We do not accept payment to mention a business, a place or a product in the text of any page.
- We do not publish reviews or quotations from visitors that we cannot verify.
- We do not give real-time weather, flood or safety warnings; use official services for those.
Advertising
Some pages carry advertising spaces. They are labelled "Advertisement" and kept visually separate from the editorial text, in their own boxes above, between or beside the articles. Advertisers have no say over what the guide writes, and an advertisement is not a recommendation.
Editorial text and advertising are handled separately. If you see an advertisement that you think is misleading, or a page where the line between the two is unclear, tell us through the contact page.
What we do badly
- Real-time changes. A gate closed after a flood or a festival date moved at short notice will not show here until someone tells us.
- Prices from small businesses. Boat trips, meals and car hire are given only as reported ranges, because nobody publishes an official tariff for them.
- Languages other than English.
- Deep architectural and historical detail. The guide stays practical.
Corrections
If a page is wrong, out of date or unclear, tell us through the form on the contact page or by email to info@huetourism.com. The most useful reports say which page and which line, what you found instead, when, and where: a link to an official notice, a photograph of a price board, or a description of what happened at a gate.
Every report is read by an editor. Where a correction is confirmed, we change the page, update its "last reviewed" date and the "last checked" date of the block concerned, and note significant changes in the log below. Where we cannot confirm a report but it is credible, we may add it as a reader report, labelled as such.
Corrections log

Common questions
Questions readers ask
Who writes Hue Tourism?
The Hue Tourism editors, who are named as the author on every page.
Do you accept payment to mention a business?
No. There are no paid placements in the text. Advertising appears only in spaces labelled Advertisement, separate from the editorial content.
Why do some pages cite airline guides or independent sites?
Because on some points, such as daily opening hours or boat prices, we could not read or find an official source. We label those sources so you can weigh them.
How do I report a mistake?
Use the form on the contact page or email the editors. Say which page, what is wrong and how you know.
